Description
Announcing the exclusive premiere of "Six Minutes to Live," a powerful mini-documentary that serves as the basis of a new initiative to improve survival rates from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). This film connects the dots between a preventable tragedy in 1999, the investigative journalism that exposed national disparities, and the still unsolved problem of needless deaths from SCA. The film weaves together multiple storylines: the heartbreaking case of Julia Rusinek, a 21-year-old woman who died of SCA steps away from a fire station, the groundbreaking USA Today series "Six Minutes to Live or Die" that detailed nationwide gaps in emergency care, and the personal transformation of the three founders of the Six Minutes to Live movement. You’ll hear from Bob Davis, the paramedic journalist who broke the original story, Hilary Gates, a bystander at Julia's SCA who later became a paramedic, and Tom Bouthillet, a paramedic and EMS chief who helped to transform his department after reading the series. You’ll be inspired by the story of Amber Lee Curtiss, who survived SCA thanks to the improved systems of care on Hilton Head Island, SC. Join us to learn how you can care, measure and act to prevent needless deaths from SCA.
